The long awaited EP entitled In Between from Cables and Space is now out. 5 tracks filled of crunchy guitar riffs and melodies. Some may say that this is a fusion of both Urbandub and Faspitch just because 2 of the members of the current lineup well came from those noteworthy bands but they offer something different on the table.
To get started, Cables and Space are composed of John Dinopol on guitar and vocal duties, Russell Manaloto also on guitar and vocals, Franz Kellner the stunning bassist and vocalist as well and Sam Saludsong on drums. Together, they are the driving force behind Cables and Space.
Let's get to the album review shall we?
Spokes - The EP opens up with the track spokes and upon hearing the first few lines, you cane hear a few traces of an urbandub-esque in terms of the of the lyrics but once it get's down in the bridge of the track, faspitch comes into play with the chug-chug strumming. Overall, a great track to open up the EP and teling the listeners that hey, we are Cables and Space and we are here to take you on a ride. I will not be surprised if this ends out as one of the singles of the band
Miles - "As we stare into our space" opens up this track and John's voice sounded a bit like Claudio from Coheed and Cambria. Love the guitar breaks and the chorus. Nice choice for the first single for the band.
Lifting Escapes - This track slows down the overall tempo of the album. The guitar harmonics and the dreamy effects alongside the oooohoooohooos and woooaahs of the vocals tells the band to us listeners that hey, we don't need to growl nor shout in order to make a song noteworthy to be listened to.
Sway - Another slow song at the start, then picks up the guitar distortions and drums after the first verse ends. The guitar solo on this track is one of the highlights of it and same as the previous track before it, the vocal harmonies are so good.
The Course of Things - And what a better way to end the EP with this track. After 2 slow tracks, this track now slowly picks up just like the vibes of miles. The guitar breakdown in the last part will make your head bang. Too bad that this is the last track on the EP which is also a good thing because it will leave you wanting for more and looking forward to the other materials from the band.
Overall, In Between EP serves what an EP does, tease the fans and leave them wanting for more. And that is what i felt after listening to the EP, im looking forward for more and boy oh boy this is one of the bands to watch out. I'd highly recommend that you go get the album and listen to it and while you're at it, support them.
Personally i'd give Cables and Space - In Between EP a rating of:
"Buy it and keep it"
